Verplanck Elementary School appreciates all that
SBM Charitable Foundation, Inc. does!

UConn Women's Basketball Game
The 4th and 5th grade field trip to the UConn Women's Basketball game on February 2, 2010
was a great success. 80 Verplanck students had a great time at the XL Center as guests of
the SBM Charitable Foundation and the University of Connecticut Husky Reach Program.
The students enjoyed fun, games and pizza with 25 UConn athletes before the game.
Each student shook hands with UConn Athletic Director Jeff Hathaway and was awarded
a certificate for their involvement in last years Million Minute Reading Challenge.







Parent's Field Trip

On January 24, 2010, five Verplanck parents and three staff members were treated to a wonderful field trip with a full tour of the University of Connecticut and a delicious brunch. There was no cost for this trip due to the generosity of the SBM Charitable Foundation and the Husky Reach Program of the UConn Athletic Department. They ended their tour by listening to three informative speakers: Dana R. McGee, Associate Vice President for Diversity & Equity, Tom Reason, Director of Admissions, and Jeff Hathaway, Athletic Director.
